The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) has officially released the 2026 National Hurricane Shelter List, confirming 46 designated safe havens spread across 17 disaster districts in Antigua and Barbuda. According to Antigua Observer, the list was developed in collaboration with the Public Works Department.
The shelters identified in the list are predominantly schools, churches, and community centers. The document also details operational structures and contact information for each designated location, providing residents with the information they need to plan ahead of the Atlantic hurricane season.
The release of the shelter list represents a key step in the country's annual disaster preparedness efforts, ensuring that communities across both islands are aware of safe evacuation options should a hurricane threaten the nation.
