A security guard narrowly escaped an attempted robbery after an armed and masked man confronted him at a Cassada Gardens business compound in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to Antigua News Room, the incident took place around 1 a.m. at a property on Utility Drive, where the guard had been resting inside his vehicle when the assailant approached.
Investigators describe the suspect as a slim, dark-skinned man standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. The attacker allegedly smashed the vehicle's passenger-side window with a cutlass, dragged the guard from the car, and demanded access to the building.
A physical confrontation ensued as the guard resisted. The suspect was reportedly armed with additional weapons, including a knife and a screwdriver.
The guard managed to break free, push the attacker away, and flee the compound. No injuries were reported.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are actively working to identify the suspect.
